Harnett County Divorce Records
The Harnett County District Court has exclusive original jurisdiction over all divorce matters filed in the county (G.S. § 7A-244). Documentation from these proceedings is referred to as the divorce court records and is open to the public in line with North Carolina’s Public Records Laws.
To access divorce records, including decrees, petitions, and other related materials, individuals can navigate to the eCourts portal, stop by the courthouse location below to view cases or request copies, or submit a direct inquiry to the Clerk of the Superior Court.
It should be noted, however, that while divorce case files are indeed publicly accessible, some contents are not. Minor children’s information, sensitive personal identifiers (e.g., Full Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers), domestic violence records, tax returns, and custody evaluations are restricted or redacted to safeguard the parties’ privacy and prevent identity theft.
